The school offers excellent research possibilities for students to obtain a PhD degree in a 3-years graduate program.

The program covers the full range of physics inherent in the field of solar system science from geophysics and planetary science to solar physics as well as the underlying fundamental physics.

Scholarships in UK
PGR Scholarship Fund

The University of Southampton has instituted a new scholarship fund. Open to the best students, whoever they are and wherever they come from, it will support up to 100 new PhD places each year. The first cohort of students will be recruited in Autumn 2010.

The Scheme is open to all students - from the UK or any country worldwide. Postgraduate research students recruited under the new scheme will receive a centrally-funded scholarship of £7,000 per year for three years, provided that they continue to progress well with their degrees

Deadline

There is no University deadline for applications for taught or research programmes One should apply as early as possible if one needs to secure a UK visa or if applying for funding or sponsorship. Deadlines for research funding are usually at least six months in advance of the start date.

HEC & French Embassy Joint Split PhD. Fellowship Program
The Higher Education Commission and the French Embassy in Pakistan launch a joint program for research mobility. This fellowship program is intended for highly qualified Pakistani doctoral and postdoctoral scientists and offers them an excellent opportunity to do research in France for 6 to 9 months. Knowledge of French language is not necessary.

Scholarships in UK
The School is able to offer six ‘School-ORS’ fees contribution scholarships to suitably qualified international PhD students who are able to start in September 2010 or, in some cases, earlier. The scholarships will pay a contribution to the full fee each year over 3 years (approximately 75% of the full fee) with a commitment to undertake about 90 hours of teaching or demonstrating.
