H.E. Masood Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Paid a Visit to CIIT

H.E. Masood Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China visited COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad on Tuesday the 10th May, 2011. Professor Raheel Qamar (Dean, IR&C), Professor Tayyeb Akram (Director, CIIT Wah Campus), Dr. Abdul Aziz Khan (Advisor, International Liaison) gave a warm welcome to the honorable guest and briefed him about the facilities at its newly established Campus in Islamabad. During the meeting, Rector CIIT, Dr. S. M. Junaid Zaidi (S.I.) gave a detailed talk about CIIT and shared the ideas on establishing collaborative linkages with Chinese Institutions in academic & research areas of Science & Technology with the support of the Embassy of Pakistan in China. CIIT has 8 MoUs with various renowned Universities in China and has 22 faculty members who did their doctorate degrees from the various Universities of China in the fields of Engineering, Information Sciences & Technology, Natural Sciences and Humanities. Recently a three member CIIT delegation comprising of Prof. Raheel Qamar, Dr. Tariq ur Rehman and Dr. Qaiser Abbass visited China on 2-9 May, 2011 to explore the possible areas of mutual interest for further strengthening the affiliation of CIIT with Chinese Universities. These visits undoubtedly provided an opportunity to further develop and renew the amicable relationships with Chinese Institutions. In his brief discourse H.E. Ambassador Masood Khan elaborated the multi dimensional collaboration which can take place between China and Pakistan especially in the fields of hydrology and environmental sciences. He also committed to give the support of Embassy of Pakistan in China in any joint collaboration that may be initiated in future. He thanked and appreciated the phenomenal growth of CIIT in a very short span of time. While recording his views in the visitor’s book, the honourable guest wrote: "It has been an immense pleasure for me to visit COMSATS University campus. It is simply outstanding and most impressive. In a very short time, COMSATS has acquired world class core competencies. The University has a great future because its leadership has vision, sense of direction and commitment.
