Prof Deiter Bimberg (Executive Director Technische
Universität Berlin (TU) Germany) paid a three day visit to CIIT, Islamabad. Prof Bimberg was led to CIIT’s
Islamabad campus, where Dr Arshad Bhatti gave a brief presentation of the Campus and Physics department. Later on, numerous Researchers from Physics department introduced their research work. Afterwards Prof Bimberg conducted a detailed presentation about TU Berlin. Soon after, Prof Bimberg visited
the Department and Nano-Science Labs.
The meetings comprised of discussions on steps for establishing links between CIIT and
TU Berlin and on possible projects. The meetings ended on a very positive note with Prof Bimberg
willingness to cooperate as much as possible with CIIT. Prof Bimberg demonstrated a very positive attitude regarding
CIIT and TU Berlin cooperation.
Prof Bimberg also delivered a detailed and thorough presentation about
his research areas and field of work. The seminar was attended by Faculty members
and students from the Lahore Campus too through video conferencing. It was followed by a
meeting with Rector.During the meeting, steps for establishing links between CIIT and TU Berlin were discussed. Prof Bimberg seemed thrilled at the idea and remarked that the standard of teaching of CIIT is quite remarkable and that he was impressed by the fact that not even a single question that was asked by the CIIT students to him was stupid. Prof Bimberg also interacted with students, faculty members etc who were
prospective visitors and answered their queries.
