Dr. Fazal
Ghafoor
Assistant Professor
Dr. Fazal Ghafoor received his Ph. D from the Department of Electronics, Quid-i-Azam
University, Islamabad under the supervision of Prof. M. Suhail Zubairy (S.I. &
H.I.) in 2002. The main topic of his PhD thesis was “Amplitude and phase control
of spontaneous emission”. He is working in the theoretical quantum optics and his
main areas of research are spontaneous emission spectrum, sub-wavelength atom localization,
quantum teleportation and quantum entanglement. Before joining the Centre for Quantum
Physics, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology he was working as a lecturer
at the University of Malakand NWFP.

Dr. Faheel A. Hashmi
Assistant Professor
Dr. Faheel Hashmi received his PhD degree from Université de Toulouse III in year
2009 in the supervision of Prof. Aziz Bouchene. His dissertation title was “Propagation
effects in atomic systems for long and short pulse regimes: Control of the optical
response”. He is working in the field of theoretical quantum optics and is interested
in propagation effects experienced by light pulses in atomic media, slow fast and
backward propagating light, non-adiabatic optical transitions, wave shaping, and
control of optical response. Before joining the Center he was serving the Punjab
University Lahore as Assistant Professor.
