The Centre for Quantum
Physics (CQP), COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Islamabad, was
established in
July 2006 with the vision to carry out internationally recognized
research in the field of Quantum Optics. The idea was initiated by Prof. M. Suhail
Zubairy (S.I., H.I.), Professor of Physics, Texas A&M University, College Station,
Texas USA. The financial and structural support was provided by the Higher Education
Commission (HEC) and COMSTECH.
Currently, the Centre forms a core of 4 permanent faculty members and 1 visiting
scientist. They are working together in close collaboration with foreign experts
whereas Prof. Zubairy remains a strong force in setting up research directions of
CQP and he plays a key role in arranging various research activities at the Center.
Besides, the Centre also enjoys collaboration with prominent scientists from USA,
China, Germany, Australia, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia.
The Centre for Quantum Physics provides an opportunity to the young researchers
and prospective students to do their research and persuade their PhD degrees in
an environment conducive for the research of international standards in the field
of Quantum Optics and related topics. |
