The success of any organization
depends on the caliber of its human resources. It is the quality of the people that
determines the continued survival and growth of the modern day organization. As
the organization grows, thought must be given not only to the recruitment, selection,
development and retention of human resources but also for the organization to direct
its attention towards career development and management.

The career
planning efforts that some professionals accomplish early in their career helps
them throughout their life. If they explore career options, consider associated
work environments, identify career paths that are most attractive to them, they
can be more productive. They can make informed decisions about education, training,
career choices, and work. Selecting the right career and making informed career
decisions requires reliable information about the opportunities available for a
particular occupation.

The very purpose of setting up Career Development Center (CDC) at COMSATS Institute
of Information Technology is to provide reliable, up-to-date, relevant career information
and job descriptions for students and alumni making decisions about their future
alternative career paths.

|
Setting up CDCs has triggered convergence between industry and academia. The purpose
of setting up these CDCs is to liaison with the industry, recommending updating
of the curricula as advised by the industry, suggesting and informing the academia
about the recent trends in the industry and the demands of the industry from the
academia.

|
The CDCs would also acts as
the centers to develop the professional skills in the students including the training
in the professional ethics, CV writing, presentation skills and interview skills
etc. Moreover the CDCs, as part of the Institution, having interaction with the
Industry can identify the problems in the industry and then ask the academia to
come up with the solutions for those problems. |

CDC is maintaining a job portal
for students in collaboration with Rozee.pk, a renowned placement company of Pakistan,
to help students find their jobs through advertising themselves at the portal for
the perspective head hunters. |
|
Students, past and present,
are welcomed to join the portal which will be beneficial for their personal growth
as well as keeping them together on a single platform harnessing the feelings of
belongingness. |
